Commissioner Helen Milroy to Speak at Royal Commission Victorian Aboriginal Forum
The Victorian Coalition of Aboriginal Agencies is pleased to announce that Commissioner Helen Milroy will be speaking at a state wide forum at Ballarat Lodge, Tuesday July 22.
The forum will focus on the current Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse and will be open to all Aboriginal community members, staff and workers.
Also speaking at the forum will be a representative from knowmore, a legal service set up to assist people engaging with the Royal Commission.
knowmore employs male and female Aboriginal liaison officers who can assist Indigenous people with their legal queries. Victorian Aboriginal liaison officer Julieanne James is based in the Melbourne Office.
The Royal Commission has been set up to investigate instances of child sexual abuse that occurred in institutions such as foster homes, state care, schools, churches and children’s homes.
Aboriginal and mainstream support services are available for those people who would like to tell their story to the Royal Commission.
